At CritterCute, our love for animals is the heart of everything we create.

Growing up on a small farm taught John to appreciate the unique personalities of every creature — from barn cats and chickens to the wild birds visiting the fields. Later, traveling across the country and exploring National Parks deepened that connection even further. Seeing wildlife in its natural habitat — sometimes bold, sometimes timid — left a lasting impression that we both carry with us to this day.

CritterCute was born from that lifelong appreciation.

We chose the name Kumu because in Hawaiian, it means “source” or “foundation”—and that’s exactly what this little gecko represents for us. Kumu is the spirit of connection: between our love for animals, our passion for creativity, and the joy we hope to share with every sticker, magnet, and critter-inspired creation.

Founded by an animal-loving illustrator with a flock of parrots and a background in design, CritterCute started with one simple idea: what if your favorite bird, cat, or critter could become a semi-realistic, chubby sticker?
